What is the best procedure to do it without losing data.

I recently bought an Inspiron 14 laptop model with 32GB eMMC Hard Drive. However when you go to the Laptop properties, the total memory reaches only 28 GB. With the basic softwares: Windows 10 + Microsoft Office + McAfee they occupy about 27 GB. Conclusion, my Inspiron is not working correctly because doesn´t have enough space in the Hard Drive.

I would like to know what would be the best solution to solve this issue. Is it possible to return the laptop to Dell to upgrade it for at least 500 GB Hard Drive?

I have a xps 8300 with RAID 0 originally install on the pc.  Recently the pc wouldn't boot.  The power switch keep blinking amber.  It was suggest that I remove everything and slowly reattach peripherals.

As a result, when I turn the pc on, it no longer recognizes  os.  It indicates missing OS.  I am trying to install Windows 7, but it doesn't recognize the hd's.  

Does anyone know how to install hd/raid driver for a fresh install of Windows 7 on my pc?

Got an MD3060e array connected to a PERC810, can access the Array via telnet on the LAN, need to be able to shutdown the Array remotely when the Array is powered by UPS.

Is there any way of shutting down the Array via CLI?

I bought a "Dell" 250 gb ssd kit for my sons bare bones kit on 03/29/2107. The model is the SK Hynix sc308. It has already failed, and it is very difficult to get anyone at Dell to tell me if they can exchange this. Does anyone know who to contact about this? It supposedly has a 3 year warranty. I paid $159 for the kit so this is a little frustrating. [:(]

I have a Dell PowerVault MD3000, and it is showing a degraded physical disk channel error and individual physical disk - degraded path error.

The recovery guru suggests contacting a technical support representative to fix the error and do not try to fix it myself. 

Any thoughts on how to proceed with fixing my issue? I am afraid to lose connection to my DAS and lose my data.

 I have a trouble with my TL2000 ISCSI/SAS bridge,

1- Previous owner had configured an IP on it before then it was not being used for long time and he couldn't remember it

2-I did a factory reset for the TL so I could try the default IP "10.10.10.10"

3- I set an IP address for my laptop (10.10.10.11, 255.255.255.0) and I connected my CAT5e cable on the Ethernet port next to the sas connection on the ISCSI Bridge to ping 10.10.10.10 but it didn't work. I also try to access it through  http://10.10.10.10/S0/login/ but also it didn't work.

now I need to know how can I get the iSCSI IP address to get it to work ..

Have a MD1200 Enclosure with Physical Disk 0:0:0 with Failure Predicted.

Is it just as simple as removing old disk and replacing with the same type and it will rebuild?

Or should I choose to take it offline in the Openmanage before then replace or just pull the disk and replace?

It's been awhile and I somehow just today inherited this server.

Please, who i can delete file from cartridge?

Sometimes, you will come across a USB pen drive or an SD Card that simply does not let you write any new content onto it. Windows will tell you that the storage device is write protected even though you have not done anything to make it so. There is a switch that does make a drive write protected and for those who didn’t know about this, this is what you need to do.

The Switch

The switch as we’ve mentioned locks the drive such that one cannot carry out any write actions on it. You can still read the files on the drive however. This switch when set to locked, will keep the files on the drive safe from deletion and an accidental format. At times, you might be able to hit the delete operation, but the next time you check, the files will still be there. In some cases, the storage device might be actually broken physically or corrupted and in those cases, nothing can be done, however, in any other case, there are ways around the problem.

Regedit.exe is the executable software you will need for this and it runs on any version of Windows XP or later. Just type regedit in the search bar of the start menu and it should appear right at the top as the first option. It looks a lot like the File Explorer and therefore, you can use the left pane and navigate to “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies “. Once there, double click on the WriteProtect value. Now, you can change the value from 1 to 0. Once the changes are saved, close the application and restart your machine. When re-connected, the storage device should be working normally.

StorageDevicePolicies

If for some reason, you are unable to find StorageDevicePolicies , you will need to create it by a right-click on the white space in the Control folder and choose New -> Key and entering the name StorageDevicePolicies. Now double-click on the new key that will show up as a folder , right click in the white space once again and  choose New -> DWORD. Set this value to 0 and name it WriteProtect . Close the application and restart your machine. If this step still doesn’t resolve the problem, there is one more thing you can try.

Diskpart

For this step, attach the storage device to your computer and open a command prompt. You might need to open a command prompt with administrator privileges. You can do so, by a right-click on the start menu button. In the command prompt, type the following commands hitting enter after each of them.

"diskpart

list disk

select disk x (where x is the number of your non-working drive – use the capacity to work out which one it is)

attributes disk clear readonly

clean

create partition primary

format fs=fat32  (you can swap fat32 for ntfs if you only need to use the drive with Windows computers)

exit"

Hi all! I've added 2 HGST drives (HUC156060CSS204) to my MD1220 (that is connected to MD3600f+1200) - MDSM shows "Status: Incompatible" and "Mode incompatible". I'm trying to update firmware from CD02 to EJ24 (from A30_MD32_MD34_MD36_MD38_HDD_Firmware_with_ReadMe package) - system shows that firmware "is compatible" but after I selected my disks, clicked "Finish" and typed "yes" system answers:

Error 249 - The physical disk firmware download operation failed because one or more of the physical disks you selected has a Bypassed or Offline status and is inaccessible. Please make sure the physical disks you selected do not have a status of Bypassed or Offline, and then retry the operation.

What should I do to use my discs?

My powervault show a LED number 5.

Hello dear friends! I have Dell PowerVault MD3400 with two controllers. One of them has a mistake.

MDSM doesn't see it, though one of controllers gets ip adress from DHCP server.

I have the biggest issue right now. I have a PowerEdge Sever with 3 MD1200 direct attached storage. The MD1200 are connected via H800 Perc controller.

I remotely rebooted the server this morning and it got stuck during the boot process. I can by the office only to see the screen shows that a drive was removed. I power cycled it and hit any key to continue. To my surprise, the bios did not see any drives on the Perc H800. it did see the virtual drive that were configured on the H710P controller which houses my boot OS.

When I went to the raid management. it has a failed disk. I have it set to raid 10 so I was under the impression that it will still work regardless of a failed disk.

I'm now in a dilemma on whether to rebuild the array without initializing the disk. The MD1200 houses multiple DB's for my SQL. I do not want to loose any data. I have a full backup yesterday but I'd rather not loose any data on the disk.

My question is why did it loose the array configuration? How can I rebuild back the VD array without  erasing any data on the drives.

Anybody here that had the same issue, please point me to the right direction.
