Dell PowerVault MD3600F Not connecting using dell MDSM
I have tried everything possible in connecting an MD3600F to my Dell R720. I do not know how to manually add a storage array that directly attached via HBA. The MDSM only allows you to use IP address how can you manually add the MD3600F with MDSM. Also tried resetting the MD3600f but it states it is in a lock down state. Please see config below for the servers and array hook up. Any help would be great

Updating the PowerVault MD3660i Firmware
Hello...we have PowerVault MD3660i and we are planning to upgrade the Firmware to the latest one, the current firmware was still the original firmware when it was delivered and installed, it is 07.84.44.60 and the Powervault MD Storage Manager version is 10.84.G6.44.
Is there any RISK in Updating the Firmware?? We would like to know what are the Proper steps and Procedure in Updating the Firmware. The Available Firmware now is 08.20.21.61.. our questions are;
1.Can we Jump to install to the latest Firmware version 08.20.21.61 From version 07.84.44.60 or we have to install the update one by one until to the latest one??
2. What will be the version of Modular Disk Storage Manager (MDSM)?? can we keep and retain the installed version 10.84.G6.44
3. About the hard disk currently installed, shall we update also HDD firmware??
4. What are the risk in Updating the Firmware??
Please provide Proper steps and Procedure in Updating the Firmware...

Add Disk Array to R620 with MD1200
I have a R620 server running Redhat Enterprise 6.4 connecting a MD1200 disk array with a H800 card
the disk usage on the MD1200 disk array will be full soon.
Can we add another MD1200 disk array to expand the disk storage ?
We may need further 30TB. It seems the MD1200 could not provide enough disk space. What other module of disk array can we add ?

PERC H710P Mini firmware (PowerVault DL4000)
I'm trying to update the firmware on my PV DL4000, and I cannot find the update for PERC H710P Mini. I'm looking for version 21.3.2-0005, but every version I try says it is not compatible with my system configuration . OS is Server 2012 x64 (NOT R2).
I've tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions from here

Precision T7610 with LSI controller card- Boot Sequence problem-no drives detected
We have had a T7610 running fine for two years. It has the LSI 9271-8i controller card with (4) 2TB drives attached in a non-raid configuration. We use (1) drive to boot Windows8 and the other (3) drives are just for storage. Upon arriving for work next morning, the system was beeping about every 1 second so we powered off and on boot up it showed "LSI MPT boot ROM, no supported drives found." The system is under warranty, called Dell, they sent new controller. Same problem. Then Dell sent new motherboard, new card, new cable for card and Dell tech replaced those. Same problem and Dell tech left that way ;( Since in discussion and much research etc., we see that the card does not show up in motherboard Bios Boot Sequence list as a choice and Dell said it should. We have since updated MB Bios to A12 and updated the Controller's firmware using files from LSI/Broadcom (Dell does not provide firmware only driver) - still not showing in boot sequence. MB Bios set with defaults (per Dell Call). The (4) hard drives have been tested in another system and are fine. We have tried a new blank hard drive and confirmed it powers up in Slot0 and Slot1 of the drive bay/backplane (no cables for drives). We have gone into the WebBios utility for the card and still no drives. Diagnostics ePSA passes with new motherboard (Except no hard drive detected). There was an error 2000:0150 with old motherboard.
Questions:
1. can anyone confirm that the controller card should show up as choice in Boot Sequence within BIOS?
2. The Dell tech I spoke with said the onboard SAS controller in BIOS should be enabled--shouldn't it be disabled? Have not tried changing since BIOS and firmware updates.
3. Does anyone have any clue what to try next? At this point Dell is sending another controller card.

MD3200 direct connect SAS storage
Hello,
I have an MD3200i and Dell R510 server. I purchased a MD12 series SAS controllers and a PERC H800 card. I turned everything on and connected the storage array to the server. However, i dont see anything on in the computer management. I looked in the modular storage array software and auto discover doesn't find anything. Even manually putting in the host name doesnt see anything. All the hard drives in the storage array are blinking amber. For the life of me, i cant understand why its doing this.

Write Cache
Hi,
We are installing Dell MD3820i storage and we are trying to benchmark the disks performance, we are facing write performance issue, after check we found that the write cache is increasing the performance by 50%, we are using MySQL with Innodb and we are afraid of data corruption if the write cache is enabled,
please advise if we enable write cache with mirroring, can we face data corruption if the storage suddenly turned off

Replacing a PERC H710 without resetting the array
Greetings.
On a PE with a PERC H710 controller, for a test, I need to temporarily replace the controller. However I would like to keep the array configuration and the data currently on it, rather than going through and array reset and reload.
Is this possible? (In other words where is the array configuration kept, the controller or the disks? I am afraid that swapping controllers will reset my array and cause data loss).

Can I install the MDSM on a new PC (windows XP VM or 7 pro VM) and access the working MD3000 without changing the configuration? I know one drive has failed and need to replace and configure.

My New Dell HDD shows 1185 days power on time
I just bought 4x 1TB Dell WF12F (ST91000640NS-DELL) hard drive.
One of them are failed to work with orange led link. I'm gonna send it back.
But other ones are also showing that on SMART data they were working for 1185 days! Is it normal or this drives that I got is used?
I see that Dell have firmware updates, I don't know how to update them.

How to choose a storage?

I am going to set up an oracle clustering system with two nodes and storage. I already succeeded it in virtual environment - nodes and a storage(openfiler) in vmware. At the moment I have two Dell PowerEdge R710 servers , which can be used for nodes. But I can't decide which storage I should buy because of lots of shop lists and the compatibility with R710 servers. The amount of data which would be stored in the storage is 4 or 5 TB and I am searching for fast and medium price. Please anyone inform me which storage I can choose.
